Super SHEro - Alyssa Link '14

Alyssa Link, MSDA Class of 2014, is a Student Nurse and Patient Care Associate at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. In the days before COVID-19, Alyssa was traveling into New York City each day to continue her education through an accelerated bachelors of science in nursing degree at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a student nurse, Alyssa was volunteering two clinical days each week as well as participating in two days of in-class lecture.

On her days off from her nursing studies, Alyssa works as a Patient Care Associate at Englewood Hospital, where she helps patients perform some of the daily tasks of living, including obtaining vital signs, eating, and bathing themselves. The onset of the pandemic has caused Alyssa’s clinical hours at Mount Sinai to be transitioned online, but her days at Englewood Hospital continue.

Of her experience in the hospital now, “The days are exhausting. My medical surgical floor has discharged over 100 COVID positive patients, and our hospital overall has currently discharged over 560 patients.” As a nursing student who is also actively working in healthcare, Alyssa has a unique perspective and is looking forward to her future career in healthcare. “As a student nurse, I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to see the results of this pandemic first hand. It is preparing me to take on the role of a registered nurse. I am now even more excited to graduate in August and start my journey as a nurse!”

As she continues on her journey by focusing on her studies and working to help her patients, Alyssa notes, “I hope everyone is staying safe and positive! We will get through this by working together!” So many Mounties carry the teachings of mission and service with them into their careers, and our communities are so grateful.

Thank you Alyssa, for pursuing your nursing career and providing supportive care to your patients.
