National Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly

National Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly

The Mount students, faculty, and staff gathered for an informative, entertaining, and empowering assembly celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Created and successfully hosted by the MSDA Diversity Club, presentations covering such important topics as the struggles of immigration and negative stereotypes, along with highlights featuring impactful and inspirational Hispanic Americans, were followed by an interactive game of Family Feud and the special guest speaker - inventor and entrepreneur Jessica Garcia MSDA '08. Jessie shared her family's personal immigration history, her background as a Cuban American entrepreneur and business leader, and her focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion - not only in her hiring practices but throughout her business partnerships.

View Jessie's advice to would-be-entrepreneurs, particularly individuals in the Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and Latinx communities, as well as a glimpse of the Family Feud fun!
