MSDA Names Nominee for NJSIAA "Woman of the Year" Award

Congratulations to Gianna Mangili '22, Mount Soccer and Track & Field athlete, for being selected as the Mount's nominee for the "Woman of the Year" award given by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA.) NJSIAA joins with the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) each year to honor one outstanding female student athlete from every high school, two-year college, and four-year college in NJ, who has distinguished herself throughout her career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, leadership, and character.

The annual National Girls and Women In Sports Day (NGWSD) celebration takes place in February and honors the achievements of girls and women in sports, and acknowledges the power of sports to unlock each girl’s limitless potential. The 36th annual celebration will begin on February 2, 2022 with a social media campaign that will continue through February 11th. NJSIAA award winners will be announced February 21-February 25.

This year is a special year as it is also the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. The Women’s Sports Foundation applauds the vital role played by individuals and organizations who have championed this effort, the advocates seeking to protect Title IX and advance gender equity, the athletes using their platform to inspire greatness, and the coaches working daily to promote play. NJSIAA is proud to celebrate the achievements of our many outstanding female athletes throughout the state. Congratulations to all the honorees.
