CALDWELL – Students and staff at Mount St. Dominic Academy took some time out of the school day to view the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.

Everyone was provided with certified safety glasses by the Mount St. Dominic Academy Parents’ Association to ensure they could take in the natural phenomenon without having to worry about eye damage.

The eclipse began at about 2:05 p.m. and reached its peak of 90 percent totality at about 3:30 p.m.

According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the next time North America is expected to experience a total solar eclipse is in 2044, but the New York metropolitan area of the U.S. will not experience one such event until 2079.
