-- On Friday, November 3, 2023, Mrs Christine Victori, who runs the signature L.E.O. Program at Mount St. Dominic Academy, took a group of Mount students to meet with top executives at UPS. Aside from receiving great hats and decorative coins, the students had a wonderful time learning about the brand new $1B state-of-the-art facility, and taking a tour. They also met with executives including Dave Brennan, North Atlantic
District President; Chris Courtney, Bayonne Automated Hub Division Manager; Kelsi Powers, Corporate Scanning and Automation Manager; Dionis Cochrane, Corporate Finance Manager; Nicole Pilet, North Atlantic District Director of Engineering; Jeff Radaker, Product Management and Advanced Technology Group Manager; and Rob Choinacki, Industrial Engineering Project Automation Coordinator, who talked to them about empowerment, advocating for themselves, and said that if someone has a perception of you that you don’t like, you should work to change it. Other lessons learned included – collaboration is key, and be a leader that others want to follow. The executives also explained how loyal UPS employees are, and that many have been there for over 20 years, moving up from being a driver, to holding an executive role.
The Mount students were impressed to discover how such a huge company manages to stay current and ahead of the curve. They also learned that the company is almost completely automated, is dedicated to eliminating human error, and that it is employing AI to improve the customer experience. In addition, the executives told the students that UPS is the only company with FAA regulated drones to be used for delivery.
The L.E.O. Program at Mount St. Dominic Academy is a two-year innovative and interactive class with a business curriculum fostering the core tenets of leadership, entrepreneurship, and opportunity.
