Virtual Admissions Open House - 5/28/20

Mount St. Dominic Academy will hold a Virtual Admissions Open House on Thursday, May 28 at 6:00pm, all from the safety of home. Prospective students and families will learn how MSDA develops and educates women who are ready to lead, serve, soar, create, and conquer. Webinar participants will hear about the Mount’s current remote learning program, in which students login in and attend classes in real time. The Head of School, Admissions Director, faculty, and students, will provide overviews of our curriculum, electives, service opportunities, and arts and athletic offerings. 

With COVID-19 making history, The Mount community remains more united than ever and steadfast in the mission: to educate young women and empower them for leadership. The transition from room to screen, from the physical classroom to a remote learning environment, has been smooth, utilizing a schedule that has been previously in place for snow days. Head of School Sister Fran Sullivan, OP, shares that, “MSDA students have been able to continue this academic year without any issues, unlike those seen in many schools over the past few months. The Mount has been educating young women for over 125 years and will weather this, emerging with individuals who are flexible and resilient.”

With the disruption in daily life, MSDA has had the opportunity to use a team approach to focus on the academic and quality of life of students, including athletics, arts, spirituality, wellness, special events, and overall communication with students and parents. MSDA is an independent school, sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell, geographically located within the Archdiocese of Newark, but governed by a Board of Trustees. MSDA’s supportive environment offers a family atmosphere and encourages new members to be immersed in the many positive qualities the Mount family has to offer.

At the Virtual Open House Presentation, additional breakout sessions for particular areas of interest will be available and will offer a more in-depth student perspective. The Mount looks forward to receiving families at in-person visits to campus when the pandemic restrictions lessen.
