Latin Students Unveil their New Roman Names

Reviewing what was learned last year in preparation for beginning a new unit this year, Latin I Honors class students took one of the more challenging grammar topics from the previous semester and designed a lesson for classmates about present participles and demonstrative pronouns. In Mrs. Shea’s class, every Latin student gets to choose her Roman/Latin name at the beginning of the course, and this year’s first year students presented projects in which they explained the reasons for their choices, along with the grammar or history behind each name. Posing with their projects beneath the classroom bulletin board that reads "Roma est magna,” the newly named “Astra”, “Flora” and “Pardus” show off their “Rome is great” work! They join our veteran Latin II/II students “Fabulatrix,” “Mima,” “Claudia,” “Hortensia” and “Aurora.”
