International Holocaust Remembrance Day

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The Mount's Holocaust and Genocide Class took the lead at today's morning meeting to observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The students shared a presentation educating the Mount community about the history of this day and the time period, as well as their experience taking this class. On 27 January 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp, was liberated. In 2005, the United Nations designated International Holocaust Remembrance Day and holds a memorial ceremony each year to acknowledge the over 6 million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust.
