CALDWELL – Members of the Mount St. Dominic Academy track team will compete in the state Meet of Champions (MOC) on Saturday, June 18 at Franklin High School in Somerset.
Several Mount athletes competed at the NJSIAA Non-Public A Championships, held Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at Middletown North High School.
Senior Gianna Mangili will compete at the MOC after placing second in the 100m dash (in a school record 11.90) and third place in the 200m dash (25.54).
Junior Amanda Galasso finished in fourth place in the 400m hurdles (1:09.59) and sixth place in the 100m hurdles (16.14, 15.93 in trials). Those were both personal bests and MOC qualifiers.
Also qualifying for the MOC was the 4x100m relay team of Mangili, Galasso, junior Julia Camporeale and sophomore Riley Merklinger, which finished in fourth place in a school-record 50.19.
Although they didn’t qualify for the MOC, other top Mount performers were junior Keira Carbone, who finished in eighth place in the shot put (31-10.75), and freshman Isabella Dressler, who finished in 20th place in the 1,600m run with a personal-best time of 5:45.08.
Also competing at the group championships was freshman Lorelei Middleton, who finished in ninth place in the 400m dash (1:00.40).
Carbone also competed in the javelin, finishing in 14th place (84-10), and the discus, finishing in 29th place (68-4).
Merklinger finished in 15th place in the 200m dash (27.28).
In the 800m run, junior Olivia LaBruno finished 22nd (2:34.10) and junior Ava LaBruno finished 24th (2:35.49).
In the 3,200m run, Dressler finished 24th (12:52.97), senior Juliana Herbst placed 28th (13:12.10) and junior Cara D’Angelo finished in 32nd place (14:13.66).
Olivia LaBruno was 28th in the 1,600m run (5:53.06), and sophomore Cassidy Sontz finished 44th (6:43.14).
Camporeale finished in 30th place in the 400m dash (1:04.98). Galasso was 34th in the 200m dash (28.94). Senior Victoria Wall finished 42nd in the 400m dash (1:09.44). The 4x800 relay team came in 10th place (10:58.64).
