There was no answer for Harper Nix on Saturday, as the Glen Ridge standout went 4-for-4 with two, doubles, four RBI’s, and three runs scored to help power ninth-seeded Ridgers to a 12-3 victory over eighth-seeded Verona in Verona.
Glen Ridge (9-6) was only ahead 5-3 after five, but four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh gave them a more than comfortable margin to advance to next Saturday’s quarterfinals. Amelia Mikros pitched well in the circle, only surrendering one earned run on the day while scattering seven hits.

Marley Kim tossed a complete game one-hitter, powering sixth-seeded Montclair to a 5-0 victory over archrival and No. 11 seed Bloomfield in Montclair.

Now 10-7 overall, the red-hot Mounties are winners of 10 of their last 11 starts, and advance to next Saturday’s quarterfinals. Two runs in the third helped provide Kim with more than enough run support and a comfortable lead.
Brooklyn Awad had three hits and came around to score to spearhead the Montclair offense, while Ella Reynolds also blasted a solo home run.
Bloomfield fell to 10-7 with the defeat.

Briana Gillen tossed a complete game one-hitter, fanning 12 batters along the way and helping propel seventh-seeded West Essex to a 3-0 victory over tenth-seeded Nutley in Essex County Tournament action in North Caldwell.
