Visual Arts
The fine arts program at the Mount facilitates and nurtures critical thinking and analysis. MSDA offers coursework in Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, 3-D Design, Advanced Studio Art Honors, and AP 2-D Studio Art. Through accessing our multiple offerings inf the fine arts, our students are challenged to understand the art and artists who have come before and are encouraged to engage in advanced, imaginative problem-solving expressed through creative works.
Student Work
We are proud of the artwork our students create in our arts courses and the Art Club.
AP Studio Art
The AP Program in Studio Art is intended for highly motivated students who are seriously interested in the study of art. Students are asked to demonstrate proficiency in drawing and design using a variety of media. The AP Studio Art student investigates materials, processes, and ideas to create a portfolio of work which demonstrates an in depth sustained investigation spanning the entire year and will have an opportunity to earn credits for college.
The Art Club's "Memory Project"
The Art Club participates in The Memory Project to create portraits - “Portraits of Kindness” - for youth who have faced challenges including abuse, extreme poverty and neglect. The portraits help the children feel valued and important, and loved from far away. For Mount students, this is an opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness.
