Black History Month Alumna Profile: Sika Henry '01

Leading off MSDA’s Alumnae Profiles celebrating Black History Month on this, the 35th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), the Mount is excited to spotlight Sika Henry, MSDA Class of 2001.

A Customer Analytics project manager with Ferguson Enterprises in Newport News, Virginia, Sika was a competitive swimmer during her years at the Mount, a collegiate high jumper and became an NCAA All American in Track and Field while earning her BS in economics from Tufts University. Sika is an elite athlete competing in marathons, Ironman and Triathlon competitions around the world, with a focus on earning her pro card in triathlon and passion for increasing diversity in the sport. But when the pandemic caused the delay of her qualifying events in 2020, Sika made lemonade out of lemons and went on to place 3rd among all women in the Tidewater Strider Marathon in November 2020 with her first ever, sub-3 hour marathon. That same week, Sika was named Athlete of the Year as part of the 2020 Outspoken Women in Triathlon Awards for her work to advocate for and make positive change in the sport of triathlon.
