Affording MSDA

The Mount is committed to enrolling students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Increased access to education reflects the Dominican mission and diversity strengthens the Mount community. We offer a comprehensive program of tuition assistance including financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

 


 

Apply for a Scholarship
To apply for any Mount scholarship, students must register for and take the annual Scholarship Exam. The next Scholarship Exam will take place on December 8 or 10, 2019 .

To take the Scholarship Exam, you must have already completed your Mount admissions application and the HSPT or SSAT Exam.

Financial Aid At a Glance

Financial Aid is strictly financial need-based. Financial Aid is available up to 50% of tuition.

Eligibility

Any student who is currently enrolled, or has submitted a completed admissions application, may apply for Financial Aid.

 

Application

Families seeking financial aid must file an application through TADS. A personal statement explaining why the financial aid is needed is required. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Applications will be accepted from September 16, 2019 through April 30, 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year. Use the TADS financial aid worksheet if needed.

Notification of Aid

Financial Aid is strictly financial need-based. Applications are reviewed by a committee. New students who apply for Financial Aid by December 6, 2019 will be notified by January 17, 2020 after 3:00 pm. Families who apply for Financial Aid between December 7, 2019 and February 29, 2020 will be notified by the end of March. Families who apply for Financial Aid in March and April will be notified in May or June.

Award Terms and Conditions

Financial aid awards must be accepted by parents/guardians in a signed agreement. A financial aid application must be submitted annually. The student is required to maintain satisfactory academic achievement for award renewal.

MSDA Scholarships at a Glance

We award the following scholarships to members of the incoming freshman class. To be eligible for any scholarships, prospective students must register for and take the annual Scholarship Exam, in addition to completing an application for admission and the HSPT/SSAT exam.

Siena Scholarship

This scholarship covers full tuition for one incoming freshman, and half tuition for four incoming freshmen; each award is eligible for renewal in each of the four years at the Mount, provided that the specific terms and conditions are met. Siena Scholarship recipients are selected based on demonstrated academic excellence and a successful interview. Learn more and register for the Scholarship exam here.

Dominican Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded every four years and covers half tuition for one incoming freshman. The award is gifted by the Sisters of St. Dominic of Caldwell and is based on demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to Catholic education. The Dominican Scholarship is eligible for renewal each of the four years at the Mount. Learn more and register for the Scholarship exam here

Doris M. Byrne Scholarship

Named for Mount alumnae Doris M. Byrne '40, this scholarship covers half tuition for one incoming freshman for her entire four years, provided that the specific terms and conditions are met. The scholarship is awarded based on financial need, academic ability, a demonstrated commitment to the values of Mount St. Dominic Academy and a successful interview. Private loans, including those below, are available to help finance your daughter’s education.

Sallie Mae

Other Scholarship Sources
