Transformation Tuesday – Renee ’18

On Transformation Tuesday, hear what Mount students have to say about what an education at the Mount means to them.

This week, Renee ’18 shares that the balance of academics, athletics, and spirituality at the Mount provides a unique learning environment for students that is irreplaceable. Read more of her thoughts about the benefits of attending the Mount:

Open environment between students and teachers broaden minds and prepare for college

I think that attending Mount St. Dominic Academy has been beneficial for me because it has allowed me to grow as both a student and as a person. The balance of academics, athletics, and spirituality at the Mount provides a unique learning environment for students that is irreplaceable. Furthermore, the open environment between students and teachers allows for in-depth discussions that help broaden our minds and prepare us for entering college. Also, one of the best parts of the Mount is the friendships I’ve made and the bonds I’ve forged that I know will last a lifetime. As graduation comes closer and closer, I can say wholeheartedly that attending the Mount has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life, and I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.

Out of comfort zone and exposure to different cultures and traditions

A great Mount memory for me was when I made the rash decision to go on the Dominican Preaching Conference in Michigan. I wasn’t sure what exactly was going to happen on this trip, but I chose to go anyway. I found myself questioning my decision as I sat on the bus with six other Mount Girls and Ms. Muoio looking at the scenic cornfields passing by. However, as the six days passed by I couldn’t have been happier to have had the opportunity to attend this conference. This conference pushed me out of my comfort zone and exposed me to different cultures and traditions that I never would’ve had the chance to experience if it wasn’t for the Mount.

Women are the future

“She’s the Change” means that women are the future. As the world changes, women will undoubtedly contribute to new innovations, policy, and social change. With role models in every field, from computer science to politics, there is nothing holding women back. Despite the many obstacles that women have faced, history has taught us that determination, courage, and hard work in the face of adversity has allowed women to succeed. Mount St. Dominic Academy emphasizes these three qualities and nurtures its students to be trailblazers in the world.
