Justice Day 2018 – “Love Shouldn’t Hurt”
Annual Justice Day Event
MSDA participated in our annual Justice Day with this year’s theme “Love Shouldn’t Hurt.” The seniors organized and presented the breakout groups focused on the topics: Domestic Violence, Healthy Relationships, and Gun Control. The day coincided with Ash Wednesday and began with a prayer service and distribution of ashes, followed by the opening of Justice Day 2018.
The first keynote speaker, Bill Ward LPC, a TEDxFoggyBottom contributor, Professional Counselor, and Teacher/Director of Retreats at Seton Hall Prep, spoke about relationships using his theme, “Love and be loved.” Students then attended each of the breakout sessions. After the informative presentations, students, faculty, and staff prepared sandwiches to bring to St. John’s Soup kitchen. A simple lunch of soup and bread was shared to help us understand what life is like for those who do not have as much as we do. The day concluded with a second keynote speaker, lawyer and alumna from the Class of 1993 Patricia Marra-Cistaro JD, who discussed domestic violence and dating abuse.
