English Class Tea Party with Alice, the Hatter, Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Darcy
English 3 Honors class had a character tea party using Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice and Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Mrs. Croarkin hosted this tea party for students for a fun end of the unit character study. They engaged in smaller explorations of characterization throughout the school year with close readings and the Pride and Prejudice dating game.

At the tea party, students acted and dressed like their assigned character. They had to base their characterization from the book, not media portrayals. The assigned roles were kept secret and all attending the party had to guess which characters were present. Sister Fran as the guest of honor sipped tea and enjoyed scones and cookies with Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, the Bennet sisters, Lady Catherine, Alice, the White Rabbit, and the Hatter.
