Empowering Our Young Women – New Curriculum, Spaces, and Programs for 2018-2019 School Year

In an effort to ensure our young women at the Mount are empowered, confident, and inspired to change the world, we are investing in our future. For the 2018-2019 school year, Mount St. Dominic Academy is proud to share news about our new curriculum, new spaces, and new programs.

New curriculum, new spaces, and new programs that invest in the Mount’s future

Robotics, computer programming classes, and our freshmen 21st Century Technology course focused on coding and digital citizenship will take place in the new space fostering creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and ethical responsibility. We look forward to the endless possibilities for exploration for our students as the recent remodel of our Doris M. Byrne Arts Center will complement the new Innovation Center and assist our faculty in their creation of meaningful learning experiences that intersect science, mathematics, and the arts.

The development of our Directed Research Senior Capstone course highlights our commitment to personalized learning; we value the role of ongoing mentorship in the lives of our young women and connect them with alumnae female leaders in their areas of interest. We remain rooted in the Dominican traditions of leadership and service with the expansion of our experiential service learning program.

Entrepreneurial spirit of the Mount leads to success of our alumnae

The entrepreneurial spirit of the Mount is evident in the success of our alumnae. With her start-up company, Tozuda, Jessie Garcia ’08 has focused on creating cutting-edge, reliable, yet affordable head impact sensors for concussion awareness. Jessie’s role as a female CEO heading up an all-male team, focused on creating life-saving technologies is empowering and inspirational.

The game-changing future at the Mount

We are excited about the future of Mount St. Dominic Academy and what it has to offer young women today—because of that, we encourage you to share our news, so that others can come to know what a game-changer the Mount is for today’s ambitious students.
