Overview Requirements

School Year:

Two semesters; 2 quarters per each semester

School Day:

Monday: 8:00 AM- 2:40 PM
Tuesday- Friday 8:00 AM- 3:00 PM

Major Courses:

Meet 4-5 times a week for a full year
Full year earn 5 credits; lab courses in Science 6 credits

# of Major Courses per Year:

6 for freshmen, sophomores
7 for juniors, seniors

Minor courses per Year:

The Phys Ed cycle that includes Physical Education, Health,
Driver Education, Computer Applications, Guidance

AP and Honors Courses:

7 AP; Honors courses across most subjects

SAT Prep:

Included in the English and Mathematics courses for freshmen, sophomores, juniors

Siena Service:

All classes participate in a mandatory project

Peer Leadership:

Freshmen; a required, non-credit course


Curriculum for 2009-2010

  • An asterisk (*) below means the Honors level is available for that course.

  • World Language - 2 years required; students may accelerate in French or Spanish by placing out of the first year of language.; a third year is highly recommended

  • Science - a second year is required; a third year is highly recommended

  • Math - a fourth year is highly recommended; students may accelerate by

    1. placing out of Algebra I
    2. enrolling in MSDA Summer School Accelerated Math Program (See Mathematics)
    3. doubling up in Sophomore year by taking Geometry + Algebra II ; for all students, a fourth year is highly recommended.
  • SAT Prep is included in Types of Literature, American Literature, British Literature, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and Pre-Calculus (for Juniors)
