To confirm and to maintain this level of excellence, the Academy sought and obtained membership in the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges as early as 1934--membership has been confirmed in every decade following.Our Mission Statement " Mount Saint Dominic Academy, established by the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell, is a Catholic, college preparatory school for young women. We are dedicated to the education of young women from a variety of ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds.The Mount community is committed to seeking the Truth in all aspects of life. Mount
Saint Dominic Academy was founded in 1892 by the Dominican Sisters of
Caldwell to bring their Catholic and Dominican tradition of education to Essex
County and the surrounding area. Here are laid the foundations for a spiritual,
cultural, physically vigorous, and self-directing adult life. Well-selected
curricula provide an excellent intellectual training. A properly integrated
health program--together with an invigorating climate--promote physical
development. Student activities offer wholesome recreation, while an atmosphere
of culture and refinement adds charm to the school environment. No effort is
spared to mold character by the application of Christian principles and to
spiritualize it by the knowledge and practice of faith.
