Musicals
This one semester course chronicles the musical stage from minstrel shows to the off-Broadway theater of today. It gives the student the opportunity to hear recordings of musical theater and to study present Broadway musicals in a variety of ways.

Chorus
Chorus will meet once a week. The work performed in these classes will stress the mechanics and the artistry needed to sing as a member of a performing group: improvement of diction and projection, the ability to read and perform from choral music, and the acquisition of the poise needed for public appearances. Students will then perform in both the Christmas and the Spring concerts. Note: This course is graded only as Pass-Fail (attendance of at least 70% required to Pass)

Blue Note Express
Blue Note Express is an elite, by-audition-only performing vocal ensemble. Focusing on popular, jazz and ethnic music, the group rehearses 1-2 periods per week during the school day as well as after-school rehearsals. Members are required to perform as members of the Concert Choir. Membership is based upon academic standing, singing and dance ability, and work ethic. Performances through the school year include all Open Houses, Liturgies, the Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert. Other concerts may occur throughout the year.
Pre-requisite: Individual audition Note: This course is graded only as Pass-Fail

AP Studio Art
The AP Program in Studio Art is intended for highly motivated students who are seriously interested in the study of art. There are three studio art portfolios which students may choose to create: the Drawing Portfolio, the Two-Dimensional Portfolio, and the Three-Dimensional Portfolio. Students are asked to demonstrate proficiency in drawing, using a variety of media, color and design and three-dimensional or sculptural work. Studying and creating work efficiently and effectively, the AP Studio Art student will create an actual portfolio and a slide portfolio and will have the opportunity to earn credits for college.
Pre-requisite: Drawing and Design, Graphic Design, and Approval

Photography
Photography students will use the 35-millimeter camera to manipulate light and time. They will learn the fundamentals of black and white film exposure and development which will prepare them for contact printing, negative enlargement and various alternative printmaking processes. Such processes include: solarization, reverse printing, reticulation, toning, tinting, vignetting, the creation of photograms, paper and chemistry manipulation and the art of pinhole photography. Our exploration of photography will involve safety and efficiency in the darkroom, analysis of photographs, peer critiquing and analysis, presentation and storage techniques supplemented by still life drawing.
