| Computer Applications I: Semester - 1.25 credits |
| The goals of this course are: to improve keyboarding skills, to develop a familiarity with the Library databases, to know how to use the Internet as a research tool, to develop intermediate skills in Word ( such as the use of clip art from disk and internet, formatting, producing a term paper and tablets), and to develop introductory skills in PowerPoint and web page design. This course will also enhance study skills needed for success in high school. |

| The goal of this course is to achieve proficiency in the use of Excel, including how to set up a spreadsheet, how to use the information to create a variety of charts and graphs, and how to include those charts in Word, PowerPoint and a web page. These skills are particularly applicable in Social Studies, Mathematics and Science classes. |

| Computer Applications III: Semester - 1.25 credits |
| This course covers desktop publishing, which is the integration of text and graphics into publications ready for printing. Students will learn how to use desktop publishing software, including the sizing, scanning and cropping of graphics and placement of text and graphics. Students will create some publications following specific directions as well as create original flyers. |

| Computer Applications IV: Semester - 1.25 credits |
| The course enables the students to develop proficiency in Access, the database component of Microsoft Office. Students will learn to not only create a database but to generate forms, reports and queries. The students also continue to improve and further their skills in using PowerPoint and creating web pages. |

| Programming in Visual Basic: Full Year - 5 credits |
| Learning to program offers the student an opportunity to develop problem-solving skills and to learn to think logically. It also provides a familiarity and a level of ease with computer use that comes from knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computers. The course covers the following topics: history of and introduction to computers, use of FOR…NEXT and WHILE…WEND loops, Numeric and string variables, graphics, sound, mathematical functions, sequential and random-access files, and sorting. The emphasis throughout the course is on structured programming and hands-on experience. |

| Programming in C++: Full Year - 5 credits |
| Learning to program offers the student an opportunity to develop problem-solving skills and to learn to think logically. It also provides a familiarity and a level of ease with computer use that comes from knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computers. The course covers the following topics: variable assignments, data types, string types, the if statement, looping statements, Boolean variables, user-defined functions, building a library, using top-down design, classes and objects, mathematical functions, using two and three dimensional arrays, searching, manipulating a string object, how a stream processes characters. The emphasis throughout the course is on structured programming and hands-on experience. |
