Opportunity of a Lifetime             

Mount St. Dominic Academy’s beautiful Gothic-revival  building, which dates back to 1931, has been a icon of our school for  generations.  And while we love our building and all of the tradition it represents, we also know that without some  upgrades, our 75 year-old home couldn’t keep up with the needs of a  modern and thriving school for young women.

Today we are in the midst of our Opportunity of a Lifetime capital campaign to fund the construction of our new athletic center and the transformation of our old gym into a fully-modernized performing arts  center. Click here to see the progress.

The Campaign So Far

During the first phase of the campaign, we received $5.3 million in grants and individual gifts and pledges, permitting us to proudly open our new Mount Saint Dominic Academy Athletic center to our students on February 20, 2008.  This wonderful facility boasts a regulation-sized basketball court with multiple backstops and retractable bleachers,  a training room, a weight room, two locker rooms, classroom space and a conference room.  All of this has allowed our athletics programs to grow and afford our students many more opportunities to excel at sports and capitalize on all of the advantages that athletics  offer.

The Next Phase

As we put the finishing touches on our athletic center, we now turn the focus of our campaign on the transformation of the old gym/theatre into the Doris M. Byrne Performing Arts Center, which will become a top-quality performance venue and special gathering place for The Mount.  The plans include tiered seating for up to 400 people, new lighting and sound systems, expanded dressing rooms, a costume and scenery shop and gallery wall, all while keeping the classic look and feel of this building which is so rich in memories for anyone who is part of The Mount.  Not only will the renovation give us the facilities needed to increase our emphasis on the arts, the space will be used for liturgies, classes and other gatherings.
