The championship portion of the high school winter track season is in full swing with area athletes advancing to the state group championships after success in the sectional championships.
Mount St. Dominic competed at the CTC Championships on Sunday, Feb. 4.
“We had a very solid showing, finishing in ninth place as a team,” said Mount St. Dominic head coach Richard O’Connor.
Senior Katie Onello placed second in the 3200m in 12:01 followed by senior Sophie Conklin in third in a personal-best 12:07.
Senior Maddie Huelbig ran a personal-best 1:46.7 in the 600m to finish in 12th place.
Senior Kaylin Ranges placed 11th in the long jump in a season-best jump of 15-3.25 to qualify for the Eastern States Championships.
Freshman Alexa Raphael placed seventh in the 55m dash final with a time of 7.60. She also ran a personal best of 45.5 in the 300m dash.
Freshman Clare Mulvihill ran a personal-best 5:41 in the 1600m to place 11th.
The 4x400m relay team of junior Bridget Murphy, Huelbig, sophomore Anya Michalewski, and junior Emily Sartori placed sixth in a season-best time of 4:26.
Mount St. Dominic will next compete at the Non-Public A Group Championships on Saturday, Feb. 17. Onello, Ranges, and Raphael have qualified for the Eastern States Championships at the NYC Armory on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
