West Essex, Mount St. Dominic track teams sparkle in division meets

The West Essex High School and Mount St. Dominic Academy track teams competed at the Super Essex Conference Championships on Friday, May 12, in Newark.

The Mount St. Dominic track team competed in the Super Essex Conference Colonial Division championships.

SEC – Colonial Division Successes

Katie Onello took first place in both the 1600m and 3200m. Holly Ruvo took first place in the 200m, with a personal best of 27.12, and second place in the 100m.

Julia Acevedo took second place in the 400m hurdles with a personal best 1:15.99 and also took second in the long jump. Maddie Huelbig took third place in the 800m.

The 4x400m relay team of Huelbig, Anya Michalewski, Alyssa Mastando, and Acevedo took third place.

Huelbig took fourth place in the 400m, followed by Michalewski in fifth place and Bridget Murphy in eighth place. Murphy also took sixth in the 800m.

Long Jump and Throws

Jaqueline MacStudy finished fourth in the high jump, and Carissa Dorval tied for eighth place.

Michalewski took sixth in the 200m, followed by Mastando in eighth place.

Gabby Caputo took seventh place in the 3200 with a personal best of 13:36. Acevedo took seventh in the 100m hurdles.

In the shot put, Maura Mulvihill took fifth, Sam Diaz took sixth, and Maddy McNany took eighth. Caila Przyhocki took seventh in the javelin.

Mastando took seventh and Alison Arcoleo took eighth in the long jump.
